“All Possess Alike Liberty of Conscience”: Guarding Our Heritage of Religious Freedom

Join us for an evening of conversation on America’s constitutional heritage, religious liberty, and civic education.

​Hosted by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) and the School of Civic Leadership at UT Austin, the evening will feature a keynote address by Vincent Phillip Muñoz, Tocqueville Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame.

​The program will also celebrate the work of ACTA’s National Commission on American History and Civic Education and mark the launch of A Broadside for the Nation, a new report calling on colleges and universities to require undergraduate coursework in American history or American government.

​The discussion will explore how America’s tradition of religious liberty and freedom of conscience emerged from the nation’s constitutional heritage and why a deeper understanding of these principles remains essential to civic education today.
