Reid Comstock

Reid Comstock is assistant professor of instruction at the School of Civic Leadership. In his teaching, he brings the foundational texts of the philosophical tradition to life so that students may encounter the questions that animate them as live and pressing concerns and engage their answers thoughtfully and honestly. He aims to help students hone the tools of critical thinking, learn to engage one another charitably, and gain greater clarity about themselves and the world they inhabit. 

Comstock teaches widely across the philosophical tradition, but his research focuses on ancient philosophy, especially Plato and Aristotle. His scholarship examines how Plato and Aristotle understand the connections among virtue, happiness, and education.
