Joshua Stuchlik

Visiting Faculty

Joshua Stuchlik is professor of philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was also previously a distinguished visiting fellow at the University of Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study and the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership at the United States Naval Academy. Stuchlik writes and teaches in the areas of normative ethics, just war theory, political philosophy, and epistemology. His book, Intention and Wrongdoing: In Defense of Double Effect, provides a comprehensive defense of the ethical principle of double effect, and his current work is on the moral philosophy of twentieth century British philosopher Elizabeth Anscombe. In addition to his book, Stuchlik has published articles in journals including the Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy, the Journal of Moral Philosophy, the Journal for Value Inquiry, and the Journal of the History of Philosophy. He received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
