Sponsored Student Organizations
The School of Civic Leadership sponsors student organizations that align with SCL’s mission of educating for freedom, preparing students for meaningful careers, and sustaining our distinctive intellectual community. SCL student organizations engage with questions of politics, public affairs, or moral life; foster the intellectual and character virtues central to responsible citizenship; and form connections between SCL students, faculty, and the wider UT and Austin community. SCL students can propose a new sponsored student organization at any time.
Civics Law & Policy Society
The Civics Law & Policy Society seeks to foster intellectual inquiry and interdisciplinary dialogue centered around the belief that law is a civic vocation. It serves as a preparatory forum and promotes the virtues of integrity, justice, and ethical reasoning for individuals pursuing a career in law. The Society celebrates all forms of civic engagement and examines how the legal profession can benefit communities. Throughout the year, the Society hosts lectures featuring distinguished legal scholars; forums for debate about law, ethics, and social justice; and service-based learning projects. With its robust calendar of events and initiatives, the Civics Law & Policy Society aims to prepare its members for meaningful contributions to the field of law through intellectual fellowship, service, and philosophical inquiry.
