Evan Coulter
Postdoctoral Fellow
Evan Coulter is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas at Austin, School of Civic Leadership. His research focuses on ancient philosophy, particularly ancient Greek theories of
the soul. His work has appeared in Ancient Philosophy. His book project, titled Aristotle’s De Anima: Psychology and the Standard of Precision, explains why Aristotle places psychology
among the most “precise” sciences. He teaches widely in the history of philosophy, including courses on ancient philosophy, the history and philosophy of science, and the place of science
and technology in civic life. His awards include the Freie Universität Exchange Fellowship and the Tulane University Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Philosophy. He received his B.A.
from St. John’s College and his Ph.D. from Tulane University (Philosophy).
