Charlie Laderman
Professor
Charlie Laderman returns to the Forty Acres after previously being a Harrington Faculty Fellow at the Clements Center for National Security and the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in 2016-17. He was previously Associate Professor of Humanities at the University of Florida’s Hamilton School, a Senior Lecturer in International History in the War Studies Department at King’s College, London, and a Research Fellow at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge. He received his PhD in International History from the University of Cambridge, where he won the Member’s History Prize for his M.Phil. He was also a Fellow at the Hoover Institution for War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University.
He is the author of three books, Sharing the Burden (Oxford University Press, 2019), on the Anglo-American struggle to save the Ottoman Armenians from destruction and remake global order after World War One, Hitler’s American Gamble: Pearl Harbor and Germany’s March to Global War (Basic Books, 2021) and Donald Trump: The Making of a Worldview (I.B. Tauris, 2017), the latter two with Brendan Simms. He is currently working on The Resurrection of a President: Herbert Hoover and the American Century, to be published by Basic Books.
