John Schwenkler
Professor
John Schwenkler’s research focuses on the philosophy of mind, action, and ethics, especially the work of G. E. M. Anscombe. He has taught at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Florida State University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he is currently professor of philosophy.
Schwenkler has also been a Humboldt fellow at the University of Leipzig and a faculty fellow at the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study. In the 2026–27 academic year, he will be a Myser Faculty Fellow at the De Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture, where he will complete a book on voluntary action.
