David Mennie

Predoctoral Fellow

David Mennie is a predoctoral fellow at the Civitas Institute and a PhD candidate in political science at the University of North Texas, specializing in political theory and international relations. His academic interests focus on the history of political philosophy, with particular attention to the relationship among law, politics, religion, and philosophy. 

Before beginning graduate study, Mennie earned degrees in philosophy, religious studies, psychology, and law from the University of Iowa and practiced law in Chicago, both as a prosecutor in Cook County and as an attorney in private practice. He has taught undergraduate courses in political theory centered on classical political texts and the tensions between ancient and modern thinkers. His dissertation examines the relationship among justice, religion, and philosophy in Plato’s Euthyphro.
