Christopher Lynch
Professor
Christopher Lynch is professor of strategy, statecraft, and political science in the School of Civic Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin. He teaches widely in the Western intellectual tradition, with special emphasis on political philosophy, defense and foreign policy, and war in Western literature. His scholarship has addressed Aristotle, Niccolò Machiavelli, Leo Strauss, and classical education.
Previously, Lynch was head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Missouri State University, chair of the Interdisciplinary Studies Division at Carthage College, and senior advisor at the U.S. Department of State from 2006 to 2007. He has also taught at Boston College, the University of Dallas, and the University of Chicago. He is currently working on a translation of Machiavelli’s poems, stories, and comic letters, as well as a book on classical, biblical, and liberal alternatives to Machiavelli’s treatment of war and peace.
