Cynthia Ma

Postdoctoral Fellow

Cynthia Shihui Ma is a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Civic Leadership. Her research focuses on conceptions of statesmanship in both ancient Greek and ancient Chinese thought. Her dissertation examines the nature of political knowledge in Plato’s Statesman. In 2023, she received the Emerging Scholar Award from the Ancient Philosophy Society. Her article, “The Philosopher’s Eros in the Myth of the Reversed Cosmos,” appears in Epochē. She received her B.A. from St. John’s College and M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Tulane University.
