Karl Walling
Professor of Instruction
Karl Walling enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from high school in 1976. After serving as an interrogator in the 3rd Infantry Division and the 511th Military Intelligence Battalion in the Federal Republic of Germany, he entered St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. He later served in a variety of military intelligence reserve assignments and deployments in the United States and abroad.
Walling has held teaching and research positions at the 6th Army Intelligence School, the University of Chicago, Harvard University, Carleton College, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado College, the Liberty Fund, the Foreign Policy Research Institute, John Cabot University in Rome, and the U.S. Naval War College, from which he retired in 2021.
