Maura Cowan
Postdoctoral Fellow
Maura Cowan is postdoctoral fellow at the School of Civic Leadership. She specializes in the history of ancient philosophy, particularly Plato. Her research and teaching focus on the relationship among philosophy, politics, and poetry.
Her current project examines the critique of poetry in Plato’s Republic, with particular attention to the philosophical and political problems raised by poets’ depictions of heroism, tragedy, and spiritedness.
