Timothy Brennan

Assistant Professor

Timothy Brennan is assistant professor in the School of Civic Leadership. His research focuses on modern political philosophy and American political thought. He has published on Thomas Jefferson, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Montesquieu, Jonathan Swift, and Benjamin Franklin, and he has a book on Franklin’s Autobiography forthcoming. 

Before joining the School of Civic Leadership, Brennan taught at the University of Austin, the Institute of American Civics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the Thomas Jefferson Center for the Study of Core Texts and Ideas at UT Austin, and the Program on Constitutionalism and Democracy at the University of Virginia.
