SCL sponsored the annual Marom Conference with Tikvah at UT Austin, gathering K-12 leaders and schoolteachers from across the country. Sessions included Rabbi Meir Soloveichik and Eric Cohen on the Hebrew Bible's influence on America's founding, and Andrew Porwancher on Hamilton's Jewish roots.
In July, SCL was pleased to sponsor the Marom Conference with Tikvah, an annual gathering of K-12 leaders and schoolteachers around the United States that discusses important developments in education. This year’s summit was hosted at the Hillel House on the UT Austin campus.
One of several signature events was a conversation on July 13th with Rabbi Meir Soloveichik and Eric Cohen entitled, “The Scripture That Made America,” in which they discussed how the Hebrew Bible shaped America’s founding ideals, political culture, and national identity.
The next night, SCL incoming faculty member Andrew Porwancher delivered a fascinating talk on the Jewish roots of Alexander Hamilton.
Tikvah advanced Jewish excellence and Western civilization through education and ideas, and the School of Civic Leadership is proud to partner with them in developing the Ackerman Program as well as other education programs.
