Paris

May Term 2027

Visit Paris to study French Political Thought (CIV 364) with SCL professor Alexis Carré. Dr. Carré grew up in Champagne then moved to Paris to complete his academic training under Pierre Manent, the most eminent political theorist in France.

For three weeks in the May term, students will encounter the great thinkers of French republicanism, visit landmark sites with expert guides, and learn from leaders in French political thought. Total academic credit: 4 hours.

To prepare for the trip, participants will meet weekly on-campus in spring 2027 to discuss French culture, the political history of France, international travel, and more with Professor Carré in CIV 119 International Learning Seminar (1 credit hour).
